Focus – Walking and Connecting with Water
What do you need?
- A safe place to practice: a shallow pool, a quiet beach, or even a spa-like pool or jacuzzi.
- Comfortable swimsuit, cap and goggles if desired, towel and water bottle.
- No additional materials are required for this exercise.
- Personal time to concentrate and a willingness to let yourself be carried away by the sensations of the water.
- Emotional opening to connect with your body and the aquatic environment.
Objective of the exercise
- Develop emotional focus and connection with water.
- Familiarize yourself with the aquatic environment in a friendly way.
- Feel comfortable walking and moving in the water.
Exercise steps
- Enter the water slowly, feeling each step.
- Walk softly, breathing calmly.
- Move the water with your hands as if you were caressing it.
- Feel the temperature, the resistance and the contact with your body.
- Close your eyes for a few seconds if you feel safe and focus on your breathing.
Instructor's advice
This exercise is the bridge between your emotions and the water. Do it with intention, without judgment. Repeat this mindful walk for at least 10 minutes during each class, and you'll notice how your body begins to trust you.
